Evaluation of robot-guided minimally invasive implantation of 2067 pedicle screws

2017

ObjectiveRecent studies have investigated the role of spinal image guidance for pedicle screw placement. Many authors have observed an elevated placement accuracy and overall improvement of outcome measures. This study assessed a bi-institutional experience following introduction of the Renaissance miniature robot for spinal image guidance in Europe.MethodsThe medical records and radiographs of all patients who underwent robot-guided implantation of spinal instrumentation using the novel system (between October 2011 and March 2015 in Mainz and February 2014 and February 2016 in Regensburg) were reviewed to determine the efficacy and safety of the newly introduced robotic system. Screw posit…

Paraules clau: poesia llatina; Renaixement; Oriola; Alacant; Just LipsiAbstract: The work of the 16th. century poet from Alicante Joseph Gosalbes of Cunedo has been forgotten. …

De Montaigne a Lope: distintos resultados de una misma decisión

2009

This essay presents the initial hypothesis of the diversity of cases shown by Lope de Vega’s theatre, that multiply perspectives and different endings from the same basic types of conflicts and designs, and tries to verify them with contemporary thought. This diversity is related with a certain type of discourse that has begun to spread out in the very beginning of the Renaissance and was gradually displacing the pre-eminence of universal principles (neo-platonic, or neoaristotelic and scholastic) for an invitation to casuistic analysis, an ethical modality applied that chose the concrete analysis of the concrete situation in front of the universally required dogmas. A type of discourse tha…

Many-Body Expanded Full Configuration Interaction. II. Strongly Correlated Regime

2019

In this second part of our series on the recently proposed many-body expanded full configuration interaction (MBE-FCI) method, we introduce the concept of multideterminantal expansion references. Through theoretical arguments and numerical validations, the use of this class of starting points is shown to result in a focussed compression of the MBE decomposition of the FCI energy, thus allowing chemical problems dominated by strong correlation to be addressed by the method. The general applicability and performance enhancements of MBE-FCI are verified for standard stress tests such as the bond dissociations in H$_2$O, N$_2$, C$_2$, and a linear H$_{10}$ chain. Furthermore, the benefits of em…

ChemInform Abstract: Renaissance of Electrosynthetic Methods for the Construction of Complex Molecules

2014

Current affairs: Efficient N,N dimerization by using an electric current is a recent powerful example of preparative electrosynthesis where conventional reagents fail. The general and practical nature of this method as well as other applications will breathe new life into the electroorganic synthesis of complex molecules.

From Theatre to Theatricality—How to Construct Reality

1995

At the end of the nineteenth century, the dominance of language, so typical of Western culture since the Renaissance, was increasingly challenged. As early as 1876, Nietzsche wrote on Richard Wagner in Thoughts Out of Season:He was the first to recognize an evil which is as widespread as civilization itself among men; language is everywhere diseased, and the burden of this terrible disease weighs heavily upon the whole of man's development. Inasmuch as language has retreated ever more and more from its true province— the expression of strong feelings, which it was once able to convey in all their simplicity—and has always had to strain after the practically impossible achievement of communi…

The Symbolical Realm and Historical Framework of the Contrade

2017

The chapter describes the contemporary symbolism of the contrade and its historic development in order to allow the reader to follow the subsequent analysis of the content of the contrade’s websites, in which symbols play a key role. It suggests that the contrade of Siena make significant use of mediaeval and Renaissance signs and symbol s such as particular colours, flags, and instruments. Members of a contrada build a community based on a specific district of Siena, and their lives are heavily focused on what is deemed necessary to the win a horse race called palio .
